Bundaberg residents are experiencing the benefits of Optus fast-tracking its 5G network rollout thanks to recent upgrades that bring the total number of 5G enabled sites in the region to nine.
All nine sites offer Optus 5G+, providing broader coverage and greater capacity compared to standard Optus 5G.
This means a better mobile experience for eligible customers in the region.
These improvements reinforce Optus’ longstanding commitment to the Bundaberg community, which dates back to the region’s first Optus tower in 2004.
Alongside the nine 5G sites, the broader Bundaberg community benefits from 35 Optus 4G sites, ensuring residents, businesses, and visitors remain connected and supported as the region continues to grow.
Nick Channell, Local General Manager at Optus, said Optus is committed to giving customers in the Bundaberg region access to great mobile coverage and fast internet.
“Local businesses and customers in the region will notice the positive impacts of Optus 5G connectivity in the area as they go about their daily lives.
“The improved connectivity will bring significant benefits, including faster data speeds and wider 5G mobile coverage as more 5G sites are turned on, helping the community to stay better connected.”
Locals can enjoy the convenience of two physical Optus store located in Bundaberg where familiar faces are on hand to provide expert advice and help support the community’s connectivity needs.
Eligible customers can try the Optus network for 7 days with no payment details required by signing up in My Optus app.
Customers, businesses, and communities will benefit from Optus’s plans to accelerate its 5G roll-out in the regions, fast-tracking the number of 5G sites in regional Australia to 1,500 by the end of 2028 and 2,444 by the end of 2030.
Optus has continued to bring choice and competition to regional communities, businesses and visitors in Australia for over 30 years through ongoing investment in network services and infrastructure.
