For many years the Rotary Club of Bundaberg Central has been running its annual book sale and for all those years it’s been building up its stock of books sourced from Bundaberg Regional Libraries and donations from the public.
Despite selling thousands at the sale every July, the club has accumulated a substantial stockpile of books, as well as cds, dvds, paperbacks and even jigsaws.
It all has to go, so this year’s book sale will have full shelves and prices will be kept low to encourage sales.
2025 will be the year to find a bargain, or perhaps that hard-to-find book you’ve been after for years.
Rotary’s book sale coordinator Ross Peddlesden said the book sale was a great event for many reasons.
“We love the book sale because as well as being a major fund raiser for the Rotary Club and the Bundaberg Regional Library, it fulfils one of Rotary’s main areas of focus by being a literacy project,” Ross said.
“By the end of the weekend there are thousands more books in Bundaberg households, and that’s a good thing.
“We especially love to see children running to the shelves to find a book, and we keep prices for kids books low to encourage them.”
This year’s book sale will run from Friday 25 July to Sunday 27 July in the Pavilion at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.
As usual there will be home-made food and drinks available and friendly Rotarians on hand to help you carry your bargains to the car.
Prices start at 50 cents with rare and collectable books on sale as well as Rotary calendars and raffles.
