CoralWatch are seeking 20 volunteers who are passionate about the Great Barrier Reef to appear in a social media video filmed in Bundaberg.

Those volunteers will then go into the running to join a unique photo shoot at Lady Musgrave Island on 5 September 2020.

CoralWatch project manager, Diana Kleine, said the reef citizen science program was calling on people 18 years and older, who were passionate about the health of the Great Barrier Reef.

“To grow the community of CoralWatchers and raise more awareness, CoralWatch has started a social media campaign called ‘Come join our watch,’” she said.

“We quite simply need as many people as possible watching out for our reef, especially when the reef is bleaching again.

“So, we are shooting a video callout to Billie Eilish, Kit Harrington (Jon Snow from Game of Thrones) and Robert De Niro, asking them to add their face to ours and yours, to help spread the message.”

That message will hopefully reach around the world, but to do that, CoralWatch needs your help.

“To take part in the video, you don't need to have any prior film experience,” Diana said.

“You just need an awesome professional attitude, a willingness to help, patience, and the understanding that the day, albeit fun and on a beautiful beach, is about making an important difference.

“Secondly, you need to be a confident swimmer, and be happy to be on camera.”

If you want to be one of the lucky 20 people who get to be part of this experience apply before 5pm Friday, 28 August, by sending two photos of your face to info@coralwatch.org.

The first photo must be a selfie looking friendly but without smiling, and the second photo is of you smiling. Include your name, age and phone number in the email.
