Micro businesses are setting up shop in the Burnett Heads arcade as the coastal community continues to grow.
The Zunker Street arcade has almost a dozen small business spaces, three of which are operated by local Lynne Giles and stocked full of everything from fashion to embroidery, and now the newest store to take up residence is Indo House.
Indo House opened its doors two weeks ago with owners Rochelle Rollason and Zarah Ellem looking to enhance the relaxed lifestyle of the region with their selection of home decor goods.
Indo House stocks a range of Indonesia ikat textiles along with marine art and home decor that's sure to help give local homes a fresh coastal feel.
Rochelle has lived in Burnett Heads for almost a decade.
She says the area is starting to boom with more families and couples moving to the beachside community, bringing new business prospects with them.
“These little shops have been empty for a long time, so it’s great to bring them are back to life,” she said.
“I’ve found with Mon Repos, the Port and Lady Musgrave Experience attracting so many people to the area that there is a real need for little shops to open up to support them.
“Then we have the RV village, which will be massive for us here in Burnett Heads.”
Growth of Burnett Heads is fantastic
Lynne agreed, saying her trio of Krafty Korner Bundy businesses continued to expand after initially opening as a one small shop two years ago.
She said the growth of Burnett Heads was fantastic news for micro businesses and the community and it's “no wonder” there was an increased interest from small businesses and shops like Indo House.
“I’ve lived here since 1988 and over the 32 years I watched the movement, and now things are really taking off,” she said.
“We really can’t look back, and I tell you what it won’t be long before Bargara doesn’t know what hit them as Burnett Heads takes over as ideal place to stay and live.
“We have amazing property here, with huge blocks of one-quarter acres – blocks of paradise, and the development is unbelievable at the moment which is great for our beautiful fishing village.”
