There will be camel rides, a climbing wall, jumping castle, teddy bear picnic and a brand-new playground to experience this Thursday when Flourish Family Fun Day kicks off in the region.

Located in Boreham Park, Avenell Heights, the event is the perfect excuse to get the kids out of the house and enjoying the great outdoors, with plenty of stalls, rides and activities to keep them occupied.

The annual Bundaberg Regional Council event helps to celebrate family, inclusivity and promotes connection within the community.

Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Tracey McPhee said this year's event had an underwater theme, with eventgoers invited to dress up in anything that represents the ocean.

“Whether it is your favourite sea creature, a sailor, pirate or even some seaweed, get as creative as you like and have some fun with us down at Boreham Park,” she said.

“There will be over 50 information stalls on hand as well as plenty of games and activities, including a Tiny Tots sing along and the Teddy Bear Parade where prizes are won for best bear, oldest bear, best dressed bear, most unique bear and more.

“The event will also feature our much-loved Welcome Baby celebration where we welcome our newest and smallest residents to the region.”

Arts, culture and events portfolio spokesperson and divisional representative Cr John Learmonth said there would be an extra level of excitement at this year's event, with a brand-new playground open just in time for the festivities.

“Boreham Park has recently undergone a revamp with new play equipment featuring a zero-depth water play area, in-ground trampoline, adventure tower, tube slide and more,” he said.

“The playground opened just a few short weeks ago but there has already been so much positive feedback from the community with families loving the new addition to the region.

“There's definitely something for everyone, of every ability and of any age so make sure you add the Flourish Family Fun Day to your list of things to do these school holidays.”

The event will be held on Thursday, 1 July at Boreham Park from 9am to 1pm.
