Council's Andrea Bax and Michael Grebert collected Mayor's Telstra Innovation Awards prizes from Queensland Computers' Corey Weier.

Student innovators are lining up to participate in the Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards for their chance to win big.

The awards ask high school students to design an innovative and creative use of technology – it could be a new app, new concepts in social media, gaming technology or robotics. It could be a smarter phone, watch or digital camera.

Interest is growing from schools throughout the region with one school potentially looking to field five teams.

Council staff visited Queensland Computers last week to collect some goodies which will go in to the $10,000 prize pool.

The award is open to students from years 9 to 12 in teams of three, from high schools located in the Bundaberg Regional Council local government area.

Entries close 22 March 2019.
