The inaugural event is the first of its kind to learn, share and celebrate what it means to be part of a vibrant, healthy and connected Biosphere Reserve community.

The biosphere conference is being presented by the Burnett Mary Regional Group, with guest speakers including ABC Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis and many experts.

The UNESCO Biosphere Program is an international effort to establish a scientific basis for the improvement of relationships between people and their environments.

Students in the Bundaberg Region have been actively working to reduce human impact on the environment, the Great Barrier Reef and our endangered turtles.

Mayor Jack Dempsey will be formally welcoming participants to the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
