A crew from Volunteer Marine Rescue Bundaberg yesterday towed a 46-foot yacht that was stranded near Fraser Island after it had rudder and propeller entanglement.

The location was more than 50 nautical miles from the group's base at Burnett Heads.

“This will be a long day for the crew especially if they have to tow the yacht back,” VMR Bundaberg posted on Facebook yesterday.

“After a 65 nautical mile run Bundy Rescue has rendezvoused with the yacht off the northern end Fraser Island,” the group posted later.

“As can be seen, great conditions are currently prevailing. Now for the long haul back. Anyone want to guess how long that will take?”

It was late Saturday when the crew returned after a long day at sea.
