At 72 Rozalija Lear is finally pursuing her passion to paint.

Newly returned to the Bundaberg Region, Rozalija has been painting for about eight years.

She said fear of failure had kept her from dabbling in art earlier.

“I think it was there but I never had the guts to start,” Rozalija said.

“I was afraid. I thought I wasn’t good at it.”

Eventually she worked up the courage to take lessons and found a teacher who encouraged her to give it a try and develop her natural skills.

“That’s how it started and I never stopped since.

“I used to hide from other people when I was painting,” she admitted.

However Rozalija’s skills and confidence continued to grow and before long her work was being presented in exhibitions in Murgon, winning local competitions.

She said landscape painting was her true calling.

“It’s my main thing that I love to paint.”
