Bundaberg trio Songbirds will perform a tribute to mums with a Mother’s Day weekend live show on Saturday, 11 May.
Love will lead you home. That’s certainly true for Bundaberg musician Jessica Modolo who followed her love of music across the world to then follow her heart back to her home town.
Born and bred in Bundaberg, Jessica moved to New York where she furthered her musical studies and performed in several professional productions.
“I was extremely fortunate to receive a college scholarship as well as an additional sponsorship thanks to the Dame Joan Sutherland Fund, which enabled me to complete my studies as a singer and dancer in Musical theatre,” she said.
Moving back to Australia, Jessica completed her teaching degree and shared her vast knowledge with students at a large music studio on Brisbane’s north while continuing to perform, until a chance meeting with a man from Bundaberg.
“When I left for New York City all those years ago I never imagined I would end marrying a man from Bundaberg, but here we are!” she said.
Jessica is now based in Bundaberg where she continues to work as a vocal coach from her home studio and performs as part of the Songbirds.
“I am blessed to be back living in my home town doing what I love doing and performing as part of Songbirds alongside other home grown talent, Natalie Sweetapple and Suellen Cusack-Greensil,” she said.
Don’t miss these international quality performers at the upcoming Mother’s Day event paying tribute to the women that raised us, titled MAMA.
The show will be live at the Shalom Performing Arts Precinct from 2pm on Saturday, 11 May.
