Bundaberg Region sporting groups are jumping for joy after receiving flights through Alliance Airlines' Season of Giving
Local sporting groups are delighted after receiving flights through Alliance Airlines' Season of Giving program.

The sky’s the limit for the fundraising opportunities of 20 junior sporting groups after Alliance Airlines launched its Season of Giving today.

Season of Giving is an annual event hosted awarding complimentary flights to community recipients for use by their members for fundraising initiatives in the Bundaberg region.

Alliance General Manager Commercial Shane Edwards said Alliance Airlines, in conjunction with Bundaberg Regional Council, had selected local sporting teams to receive complimentary return flights between Bundaberg and Brisbane as part of this year’s initiative.

“Throughout the year, we’ve been approached by a number of organisations looking for assistance,” Mr Edwards said.

“Season of Giving is our way of giving back, staying in touch with members of the local community and seeing how we can better contribute.

“With last year’s Season of Giving, eleven charities were able to fundraise for much needed funds for worthy causes directly in the Bundaberg region.”

Season of Giving creates opportunities

Bundaberg Country Dressage Club is one of the lucky recipients and Treasurer Susan Draganoff said it was an exciting opportunity for the group.

“Being a small club it is beneficial to receive something like this as it provides additional fundraising opportunities which will in turn benefit our members with a higher level of coaching and competition opportunities,” Ms Draganoff said.

“While we are a small club we have aspirations to promote the equestrian sport of dressage and grow our club participation throughout the region.”

With a strong junior contingent Ms Draganoff said the funds would assist in providing opportunities for young riders.

“We are always looking for additional ways to support the development of our junior riders as they are the future of our sport.

“Our recent acceptance to be included as an Interschool Queensland competition qualifier will provide local junior riders with greater opportunities to advance their riding careers without having to travel huge kilometres to do so.”

Following an Expression of Interest process, Alliance Airlines has selected the following local sporting teams to be recipients for free flights to assist with fundraising.

The business currently operates a fleet of 23 Fokker F100, 10 Fokker 70LR jet aircraft and five Fokker 50 turboprops with additional fleet units scheduled to enter service during the remainder of 2019.

Alliance has world leading operational performance, a key attribute sought by its customers.

The Company has operational bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Darwin.

Mr Edwards said the team at Alliance Airlines was committed to servicing the local Bundaberg and surrounding community, recently introducing three fares to benefit the residents and businesses in the region.

The ‘Escape to Brisbane’ fare offers a year-round highly discounted fares from $129 one way between Bundaberg and Brisbane for bookings with a minimum of 21 days in advance and flexible with their travel dates and times.

The “International Add-On” and “Cruise Add-On” fares were implemented in conjunction with local travel agents and provide an affordable and convenient option for Bundaberg residents travelling overseas from Brisbane on any international airline or cruise line. These fares allow residents to fly directly from Bundaberg Airport, instead of travelling by road or rail to Brisbane.

“We’re confident that these discounted fares will continue to benefit Bundaberg residents and local businesses and we’re excited to work with the community to promote travel to and from Brisbane,” Mr Edwards stated.
