Alliance Airlines has introduced return flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg as part of a tourism package for the Great Barrier Reef.

Alliance Airlines has introduced return flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg as part of a tourism package for travellers wanting to visit Lady Musgrave Island.

Brisbane Tickets have released the information as part of a Great Barrier Reef Day Trip package including the charter flights on the Fokker 70 jet between Brisbane and Bundaberg.

The airline suspended its service in the region in September 2020.

Now, the company is bringing flights back to help service the tourism industry within the region.

As part of the Great Barrier Reef Day Trip package, return flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg are included as well as return coach transfers between Bundaberg Airport and Bundaberg Port Marina.

Visitors then get to travel aboard the Main Event vessel to Lady Musgrave Island and lagoon and enjoy snorkelling, a guided tour of Lady Musgrave Island and a trip on a glass bottom boat through the Lady Musgrave lagoon and reef.

Morning and afternoon tea is included as well as a buffet lunch featuring seafood, cold meats, salads and more.

Mayor Jack Dempsey said it was great to see Alliance Airlines introduce the charter flights to the region.

“Council has been talking to Alliance for 18 months about different options and opportunities,” he said.

“The all-inclusive tours are sure to be popular with people looking to experience the majestic Great Barrier Reef in a day trip from Brisbane and will also open up options for our other tourism operators throughout the region.

“This is a great opportunity to tell your family and friends in the South East to make a trip to the Bundaberg Region!”

Owner of Lady Musgrave Experience Brett Lakey said it was good news all around.

“Not only does this get people from our major cities into the region, it also gives them a direct opportunity to explore the beautiful Lady Musgrave Island as a quick and easy one-day trip,” he said.

“With the addition of the new luxury pontoon at the reef, visitors are given a whole other option to visit a world-class facility and explore a stunning destination.”

The whole package, including the flights, costs up to $620 with bookings available from next week.

  1. Great to hear. Now how about up to the bigger Northern Regional cities from Bundy….. Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns etc. So annoying having to go 3-4 hours backwards to S/Coast or Brisbane to have to then fly up.

  2. I hope that Alliance will also have trips from Bundaberg to Brisbane and Return. We really need some competition for, the other Airline
    that charges very expensive prices.
