A Bundaberg hair salon will be making waves at one of Sydney Fashion Week's biggest events this weekend.

Kiralee Honor, owner of The Place Hairdressing on Bourbong Street, is heading to the big city with her emerging stylist Claire Mallows after being chosen to work at the Tigerlily showcase for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

“It is an amazing thing, being from a country hair salon, that we can still mix it with the big-time salons,” she said.

“We are very excited and it is such a great achievement for the salon.”

Kiralee said she had owned her salon for 15 years and was excited to put Bundaberg on the world map for fashion and hair.

“I wanted a boutique salon in the Bundaberg community,” she said.

“I feel like people think you have to go to Brisbane for great hair but it is amazing how many fantastic hairdressers are here locally.”

Kiralee said her salon was chosen to be part of the Goldwell creative team and will be prepping and creating all day, with waves to be the signature look in the show.

“We start quite early, we do a prep in the morning and there will be a head director that we work under,” she said.

“Then there will be hair all day for the fashion show which starts at 6pm.”

The Sydney Fashion Week event will showcase resort-wear label Tigerlily.
