Year 10 students from Bundaberg State High School last week welcomed a special guest to their Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) fitness program.

Assistant Commissioner Brett Schafferius from Community Contact Command dropped into the Bundaberg PCYC to check out the impressive facilities while getting to know the staff and students.

Assistant Commissioner Schafferius said Bundaberg PCYC had some of the best facilities in the state and emphasised the quality outcomes being achieved from partnerships with Bundaberg Police and local community groups and schools.

The PCYC fitness program will run for a few weeks and focuses on the importance of healthy living, self belief and building resilience.

School-based police officer, Senior Constable Mick Gray said the PCYC fitness program is a great and healthy way for students to get out of the classroom.

“The facility allows students to get active, learn important life skills and engage with local police,” Senior Constable Gray said.
