The Women of Waves Football Development Program gives young girls the opportunity to hone in on the sporting skills.

A football program aimed at giving young girls the opportunity to hone in on their sporting skills is starting up in Bundaberg.

The Women of Waves Football Development Program is now in its third year and will be starting again on 19 February at the Across The Waves Sporting Complex.

Chris Ashby, Junior Technical Director at Across The Waves Football Club, said the free program was aimed at girls aged 5-12.

“This is a great program which allows girls to try and participate in football in a fun and safe environment,” Chris said.

“Participants receive coaching from qualified female and male coaches and the program is completely free.”

Chris said it was the third year Women of Waves Football Development Program had been held.

“The program is important to help grow and provide opportunities for girls to participate in football.

“Also, programs like these are important to help children diversify their socials skills and resilience.

“Participants don't need to have played before and all skill levels are welcomed.”
