Seniors Forum and Expo on 17 March

Seniors Forum and Expo
The Seniors Forum and Expo will have a wealth of information for our mature residents

The Seniors Forum and Expo is a “must attend” event for those wanting to know about services and organisations that cater for them.

The 2020 Seniors Forum and Expo will be held on Tuesday, 17 March from 9am to 1pm at the Multiplex.

Council’s Community Development Officer, Bev Devlin, said there will be some very interesting guest speakers.

“Industry experts will be presenting on a wide range of topics from health and wellbeing to staying connected,” Bev said.

“Keynote speaker will be Robert Zillman, Assistant Director in Aged Care Regulation Queensland Branch from the Commonwealth Department of Health.

“Guest speakers continue through until 12.30pm, covering topics as varied as palliative care to power of attorney, from tai chi for arthritis to chair yoga.”

The other important aspect of the event is the Seniors Expo, with many different organisations represented.

More than 70 exhibitors on display

“We will have more than 70 different organisations, not for profit groups and services on display.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our mature residents to get information on some of the important services in our community.

“Last year we had lots of feedback that people had no idea that some of these services were available here in the Bundaberg region, so it’s great for people to meet those who can help them.”

The 2020 Seniors Forum and Expo is an initiative of Bundaberg Regional Council Community Services, in partnership with RSL Queensland, RSL Sub Branch, Blue Care, the Bundaberg Neighbourhood Centre, Australian Red Cross, U3A, Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service and AIM Hearing.

It is a free community event and light refreshments will be provided.  The air conditioned Multiplex can be accessed off Walker Street or Burrum Street.

The event will run from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday, 17 March. More details can be found by phoning Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Development Unit on 4130 4150.
