Concert on the couch back for encore

Triple M Concert on the Couch

After the success of Triple M Bundaberg’s Concert on the Couch in April, they’re back for an encore this Friday night, venturing out of the studio as coronavirus restrictions ease.

This Friday’s concert will be live streamed from The Club Hotel from 6pm til 7pm.

93.1 Triple M Breakfast Announcer Justin Bell (JB) said they were encouraged to do another concert after the success of the first Concert on the Couch,

The feedback was amazing,” JB said.

“The idea was a collaboration between myself, co-host Jules and our Manager Nathan Bedford and was so successful the idea has been shared to other Southern Cross Austereo stations around Australia.

“We’re proud that we could develop an idea here in Bundaberg that could be shared nationwide.”

After running the last concert from the Triple M studio and streaming from the artists’ homes, Justin said the idea to run this one from the Club Hotel came to them at dinner time one night.

“After getting a take-away meal from the Club Hotel, Nathan asked Rodney if he had a space we could pull this off safely,” Justin said.

“They are doing takeaway food also so figured what better way to get that more authentic feel.”

The Club Hotel’s Rodney Wheat said they were happy to be involved.

“We love live music and would normally have live music at the Club Hotel every Friday and Saturday nights and love supporting the local musicians as much as possible,” Rodney said.

“It’s great to see Triple M getting behind our local musicians, who are doing it just as tough as many people and businesses.”

Rodney and his team, who will be there cooking take away meals, are looking forward to the change of pace – and sound.

“Triple M will be broadcasting live on their radio station as well as streaming a live video from upstairs in our function room, Rodney said.

“We also will be tuned in with our stereo downstairs so people picking up their takeaways can hear it playing.”

This Friday night’s concert will feature popular local acts Matthew Barker, Phoebe Jay and Mark Lavender and will be hosted by JB and Jules the Triple M Breakfast team.

Local music fans can listen to 93.1 Triple M’s Concert on the Couch 2.0 from 6pm Friday night on the radio, station’s website and Facebook page.
