Construction starts at Spring Lakes Resort

Spring Lakes Resort will have a 32-seat cinema, art and craft room, library, dance floor, lounge and dining area, a gymnasium, an outdoor lap pool and heated hydro-pool to keep the residents active, along with outdoor leisure and barbecue areas.

Earthworks are well advanced and construction of the first villas is about to start at Bundaberg’s newest over 50s community, Spring Lakes Resort.

Located at River Springs Drive, Avoca, Spring Lakes Resort is a major lifestyle village that has been designed for active retirees and semi-retirees who are looking to improve their lifestyle, health and well-being.

Project manager Grant Botica said, as a gated community, the resort would ultimately comprise 163 villas along with common facilities, including a recreational clubhouse with a lakeside sunset bar and viewing deck.

He said there would also be a 32-seat cinema, art and craft room, library, dance floor, lounge and dining area, a gymnasium, an outdoor lap pool and heated hydro-pool for residents to keep active, along with outdoor leisure and barbecue areas.

“In addition to all of these facilities, there will also be a residents’ workshop, a six-rink bowling green, and a caravan and RV storage park,” Grant said.

For the future, Grant said there would a 96-bed aged care facility that is planned to be constructed adjacent to the resort.

“This will provide a higher level of care, avoiding the need for residents to move too far from the resort as their health needs change,” he said.

“One of the unique features of Spring Lakes Resort is that it is located on over 20 hectares of land, of which only about 50 per cent is being developed.

“The remainder will be landscaped open space around the magnificent spring-fed lakes.”

One of the unique features of Spring Lakes Resort is that it is located on more than 20 hectares of land, with only about 50 per cent being developed.

Plans are also being considered for a nine-hole golf course.

The developers have purposefully designed the villas with low-maintenance living in mind.

Grant said there was already a lot of interest from the local community in Spring Lakes Resort, despite the fact they hadn’t started marketing yet, which was encouraging during the early stage.

“There will be a wide choice of two-bedroom villas (plus a study), all with two bathrooms and most with double garages,” he said.

“Some are designed to accommodate a caravan or RV undercover for those that travel.

“All villas are within an easy walk of the recreational facilities where there will be an abundance of activities for the residents to participate in. Residents will feel like they are truly living in a resort.”

The villa designs are currently being finalised, and Grant said it was likely the display villas would be open for inspection by late September.
