The Bundaberg Multiplex and Convention Centre has had a recent improvement, with drapes being installed at the back of the stage in the main auditorium
Council’s Sport, Recreation and Facilities portfolio spokesperson, Cr Vince Habermann, said the new drapes will make a big difference.
“Local company Corporate AV designed, supplied and installed the drapes, which will not only increase the visual aesthetics and usability of the auditorium, but will also improve the acoustics in the room and aid in the reduction of noise from the PCYC courts that back onto the stage area,” he said.
“Mal Brown and the Corporate AV Team did an amazing job from design to install and were considerably cheaper than out of town suppliers.”
Mal Brown from Corporate AV said doing the work was going full circle in his career.
“I owned and ran two upholstery and motor trimming shops earlier in my career and have recently supplied all the drapes plus main curtain for the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre,” Mal said.
Mal said it was great to be able to adapt to changing conditions.
“Since COVID-19 my main business being production and trade shows basically stopped over a period of a week.
“I had to find other areas to support my business so I went back to areas I had previously been in involved in, being audio/lighting sales and installations plus draping.”
Mal said it was very satisfying working on the project at the Bundaberg Multiplex, where he has been involved for many functions providing audio visual services.
“The acoustic benefit by installing correct good quality drapes on a stage is enormous, with their excellent sound absorption properties creating the ideal environment for artists, bands and presenters using the stage.
“The new drapes will create the backdrop and working space for conferences, trade shows, corporate events and the like.
“Basically, it makes the space aesthetically pleasing and a better working environment.”
