In big news for Bundaberg bargain hunters, it’s been announced the new Aldi store on Takalvan Street will open on 25 November.
The supermarket chain is busy preparing the site for the opening of its newest store, which replaces the previous Aldi at the intersection of Bolewski and Johnston Streets in Avoca.
Work has been under way on the site since earlier this year and when the Aldi signage was erected in recent days it came with the opening-date announcement.
The Takalvan Street store will increase the Avoca Aldi offering by about 250 square metres, with the new store to feature a gross floor area of 1740 square metres.
The Bundaberg Region is home to four Aldi stores in total, with the popular grocery outlet also located in Bargara, Kepnock and the Bundaberg CBD.
Approved by Bundaberg Regional Council in 2018, the development is situated on land adjacent to Harvey Norman and Stockland Shopping Centre.
Once complete, the new store will include more than 100 car parking spaces and a loading dock.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said Aldi had received strong support from residents since establishing in the region.
“Ever since coming to the region Aldi has been met with overwhelming community support, so we’re excited that the new store is nearing completion,” Mayor Dempsey said.
“The new store is situated on Takalvan Street within the major activity centre in Bundaberg West.
“It will add to an already growing and bustling retail precinct, with Stockland Shopping Centre and Harvey Norman right at the door.”
