Playhouse streams Christmas Eve spirit

The Corona Choir will be singing Christmas favourites on Christmas Eve at the Playhouse Theatre and online.

The Playhouse Theatre will hold their final Bundaberg’s Unique Relaxed Performances (BURP) for the year on Christmas Eve.

Bundaberg Players’ Artistic Director Bex Hutchins, said it would be the prefect way to get ready for Christmas.

“We wanted to spread some Christmas cheer and thought the best way to do it would be to perform on Christmas Eve,” Bex said.

“The Corona Choir will be singing lots of well-loved Christmas Carols and songs that we’re hoping people will sing along to, whether they’re in the theatre or watching the live stream at home.

‘We’ll be starting the night with a laugh, with Trish Mears’ third play, Getting Festive in a Pandemic.

“Given what is happening in Sydney at the moment the play is quite prophetic, but will show the fun side of what has been a very strange year.”

The Playhouse Theatre started Bundaberg’s Unique Relaxed Performances in September and the audiences have been steadily growing.

“It’s great to see so many people enjoying the live stream through the Playhouse Facebook page,” Bex said.

“We’ll actually be able to have a full house in the theatre too, so we hope lots of people join us for a great night of entertainment.”

The Christmas Eve BURP is on from 7.30pm on Thursday 24 December.

Tickets are free and are available at the door at The Playhouse Theatre, 2B Steffensen Street, West Bundaberg. Patrons are urged to arrive by 7.15pm as they will need to check in and adhere to COVID guidelines.

The Playhouse Theatre live stream will start at 7.25pm on the Playhouse Theatre Bundaberg Facebook page.
