Workplaces in Bundaberg are being urged to sign up for a new health program aimed at helping employees live healthier lifestyles.

My health for life offers on-site health checks in the workplace as well as personalised coaching sessions, free of charge.

The program aims to assist individuals in reducing their risk of developing chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Program staff are at the Bundaberg Move It Expo today to discuss the program and offer free health checks. Bundaberg residents are encouraged to stop in and check in with their health, with My health for life taking a fresh, personalised approach in helping people to make positive lifestyle changes.

“Chronic disease is on the rise in the Australian workforce,” Program Director Louise Natusch said.

“It is becoming more and more imperative for workplaces to invest in the health of their staff to ensure maximised productivity in the workplace.”

My health for life: what to expect

Louise said the My health for life program was available to anyone in the workplace aged 18 years and over who had been identified as being at high risk of chronic disease through the health check process.

“Upon signing up, we will work with your business to identify the best way to support you and your workforce in making healthy change. This could include information sessions, health checks, delivery of the My health for life program or a combination of these options” she said.

“Eligible staff are able to join the My health for life program via a local group program or the telephone health coaching program.

“Our team will visit your workplace to conduct health checks for your staff, or alternatively over the phone with staff who are interested in the program. Health checks are a great chance for staff to discuss their health and gain an insight into their risk of developing chronic disease.”

My health for life is led by Diabetes Queensland in partnership with the Heart Foundation, Stroke Foundation, Queensland Primary Health Network, Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland and Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Heath Council.
