Bundaberg locals Kirsten and Daniel Horvath with their Mum Mary visited the floral displays at the orchid show for Mother’s Day in 2019.

The annual Orchid Society show is back for 2021 with a wide variety of stunning flowers to be showcased to the public.

Being held at the Bundaberg Civic Centre from Friday, 7 May to Sunday, 9 May, the hall is set to be filled to the brim with a range of orchids for the special Mother’s Day event.

The annual show is hosted by the Bundaberg Orchid Society, a group of passionate growers who share a love for the more than 25,000 orchid species.

The autumn show will not only showcase local flowers, entries are also open to all who are part of the Australian Orchid Council.

Judging of the orchids will take place on Thursday, 6 May, with the prize presentation for the different category winners announced at 12.30pm on Sunday.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience growing orchids, President of the Orchid Society Robert Shield explained that there would be plenty to see for those attending.

“We will have around 40 classes of orchid on display across the weekend, showcasing the best of what is being grown locally as well as from other entrants across Australia,” he said.

Robert has been growing his own orchids for the past 30 years and has held the president position at the local society for the past 10 years.

The Mother’s Day Show will begin at  8am across the May weekend with entry just $2.

Those attending are asked to check-in to the event using the check-in Queensland application.
