Bundaberg families invited to ‘Get Awesome for Autism’

AEIOU Foundation will celebrate community and diversity today when the early learning autism centre in Branyan opens its doors for a community open day.

A fun-filled and educational morning for Bundaberg families, the event is a must-attend for parents and carers interested in learning about local support for children with autism.

Coinciding with the ‘Get Awesome for Autism’ Day, where workplaces and schools across the region host a bake-off, free dress day or raffle to raise funds for children with autism, there will be plenty on offer at AEIOU Bundaberg said Centre Manager, Katt Broad

“Everyone is welcome at AEIOU Bundaberg this Friday,” Katt said.

“While parents and carers take a tour through our centre, speak with our therapists, and learn from representatives from some of the region’s most trusted service providers, kids will be entertained by a range of free and fun activities including a bouncy castle.

“At AEIOU we specialise in early intervention therapy and care that enables children with autism to live their best lives.

“Through evidence-based successful intervention programs and practical support, we have supported countless children and their families in Bundaberg.”

Across the region, families can access a range of different support providers to assist in raising a child with autism.

“Families rely on a network of support providers to get them through what can be a particularly challenging time, especially early in a child’s autism diagnosis,” Katt said.

“Raising a child with autism is a community effort; no one does it alone, that’s why we have invited some of Bundaberg’s other leading service providers to share how we work together to support families and their child towards a common goal.”

Community partners attending this Friday’s event include BUSHkids, STEPS Autism Treehouse, Family Relationship Centre, The Neighborhood Centre, Impact Community Services, Bears & Books, and Headspace.

Families will not need to register or purchase tickets for this free community open day.
