Moncrieff Entertainment Centre lighting and audio upgrades are part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s 2021-22 budget which delivers a continued commitment to high quality performances and events.

A total of $175,000 has been allocated to the theatre for the replacement of the audio and lighting control desks, which play a major role in supporting live productions and stage entertainment.

Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the control desks were recognised as in need of replacement due to the current equipment showing signs of major deterioration.

“The audio and lighting desks are significant pieces of equipment that are an absolute requirement for day-to-day servicing of live performing arts events at the Moncrieff,” Cr Learmonth said.

“The desks help to control audio and lighting levels and attribute to the overall ambience, excitement and atmosphere of each performance.”

Cr Learmonth said the benefits of the upgrades would ensure that industry standard equipment was used to provide a high level of service at the local venue, which serves national and international touring shows.

“With the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre securing fantastic, major acts year-on year for locals and visitors alike to enjoy, it is crucial that this equipment is maintained,” he said.

The popular theatre has experienced a rise in box office sales since opening the curtains to its first production in February after an almost 12-month hiatus due to Covid restrictions.

Cr Learmonth said since then, major acts such as Opera Queensland, John Butler, Human Nature and comedian Arj Barker have graced the Moncrieff stage as part of this year’s fantastic entertainment line-up.

“The Moncrieff Entertainment Centre is a fantastic venue which not only provides high-quality entertainment through national and international acts, it also provides a space for school groups to perform, for local acts to showcase their talent and for the community to come together to appreciate theatre and the arts,” he said.

“The team at the Moncrieff do an amazing job year on year at securing major acts and providing a space for the whole community to utilise and enjoy.”
