Danny and Kerry Nevins are no strangers to owning and operating a business, although their latest venture Be Your Best Beauty is a fresh start for the couple.
Having owned businesses in hospitality previously, the couple have recently opened the beauty, hair and nail salon in Bundaberg, providing a range of beauty services for men and women.
After three decades in the hospitality industry Kerry said she was ready to try something new and decided to complete a nail technician course.
“After 30 years of cooking, I decided I was done with the hospitality industry and I was sitting on the lounge at home doing my own nails thinking what can I do?” Kerry said.
“Then I thought, I should do this, so I went and completed a nail course.
“I love doing my own nails, I’ve been doing it all my life and it has been a passion that we have now been able to turn into a business.”
Kerry will be the salon’s nail technician, with Danny working on reception and three new beauticians employed to help provide the large range of services on offer.
“We have employed three trained and highly skilled beauticians who will help us to service a range of clients and all their needs,” Danny said.
“Kerry will be the nail technician and I will be the receptionist, with clients able to choose between the three beauticians for all other services allowing us to have no lack of availability.”
Although the offering at Be Your Best is different to their previous businesses, the couple said the values remained the same.
“Our business is built off the same thing as previous businesses, which is old fashioned service and a good product which really go hand in hand whether it be
food or beauty,” Danny said.
“We are all about just making sure people leave feeling their best, we invite the ladies and gents of Bundaberg to come and be your best.”
Kerry said they chose the name of their business as their aim is to do whatever they can to help people feel their best.
“We chose the name as everyone has a different opinion on what is their best, and there is no set ruling on what it means to look your best so whatever view you have of your own, we can add to it,” she said.
“So not everyone has to have eyelashes, or nails but if that is what you want to be your best then we can do that, but if you just want to come in and get a massage to feel your best then we can do that as well.”
The new salon will also have a sauna in the coming weeks, available for people to book sessions in for use.
