Neuron launches ‘Helmet Safety Awareness Week’

Neuron are encouraging e-scooter riders to wear helmets as part of a special safety campaign.

Neuron will be holding a series of ScootSafe events across the country, including in Bargara, to promote Helmet Safety Awareness Week tomorrow.

It's the first event for Australia and New Zealand’s leading e-scooter operator which aims to educate riders on the benefits of helmets and encourage their use when riding e-scooters.

To support the campaign, Neuron has allocated $100,000 to incentivise helmet use and will be doubling the reward offered to users who use their in-app ‘Helmet Selfie’ feature.

On top of this they will also be running a ‘Wear a Helmet Challenge’ competition on Instagram @rideneuron.au.

Participants who submit the best photo of themselves wearing a helmet could win 12 months of free rides for them and a friend.

There will also be 10 three-month passes for the runners up.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to participate in the ‘Wear a Helmet Challenge’ at the Neuron ScootSafe events by using the onsite photo booths where they can use a range of fun props.

A local event will be held in Bargara tomorrow, from 11am to 2pm at Turtle Park.

Everyone who attends the event and engages with the Neuron Safety Ambassadors will also be rewarded with credits towards their next ride.

“As the research shows, people want to see e-scooter operators doing more to promote safe riding and helmet use, and as a responsible operator, we agree,” Richard Hannah, Head of ANZ, Neuron Mobility, said.

“That’s why we’ve committed over $100,000 towards activities and incentives.

“An important part of this campaign is also education, which is why we are encouraging people to head down to our ScootSafe events.

“We want people to continue to wear helmets long after this campaign, they are the single most important piece of safety equipment and everyone should wear one to protect themselves.”

Neuron operates in 9 locations across Australia including Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, Canberra, Townsville, Bundaberg, where helmets are provided as standard with e-scooters through the world’s first app-controlled Helmet Lock which secures a safety helmet to the e-scooter, electronically releasing it to use at the start of the booking.
