Elliott Heads State School is getting in the Christmas spirit with a Carols by Glowstick event soon to be held for a night of family fun.

There will be plenty of entertainment from both students and local musician Matthew Farthing when the event kicks off on Friday 3 December.

Elliott Heads State School Principal Nichola Lister said Carols by Glowstick would be a great way to end the school year and celebrate the festive season as a community.

“As a school we held Carols by Glowstick in 2019 as a way to finish the year with the school community and showcase our talented students,” Ms Lister said.

“When the Elliott Heads Community Group approached me about a community carols night for this year, I told them about the event we had held previously, and we decided to join together and open our event up to the entire community.”

Carols by Glowstick will be held in the multi-purpose centre at Elliott Heads State School which provides shelter and protection from wind and rain.

The Elliott Heads State School choir will be performing as well as a special performance from each grade and special guest Matthew Farthing.

“The choir rehearses every Friday morning with their conductor Mr Michael Buckholz, who is looking forward to the performance,” Ms Lister said.

“Each class has been practicing two songs to perform on the night and I know our Prep and Year one students will be very cute with one class incorporating musical instruments to enhance their performance.

“Matthew Farthing is a local entertainment legend who will also be performing for the community at the event.”

Ms Lister said the student council would be selling glowsticks on the night and the site would feature food trucks as well as a drinks bar to be run by the P&C.

“We encourage community members to bring a chair or a blanket and make themselves comfortable for a night of music, relaxation, food and Christmas spirit,” she said.

Carols by Glowstick will be held on Friday, 3 December from 5.30 – 10 pm at Elliott Heads State School.
