For any cattle dog lovers who are looking to give a new pet their forever home, Rick is sure to be your boy.

At just over one year old, Rick is an energetic, active and curious Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog, who is always paying attention to what is going on around him.

He is looking for a home with cattle dog experience, as he shows a lot of typical working dog traits and typical backyard dog life isn't going to cut it for him.

He needs a switched on owner that will work with him to create a strong trusting bond, which also means being allowed indoors.

Just taking him for a run daily will not be enough to stimulate him, with Rick requiring mental stimulation as well as physical including training and dog sports.

Rick loves his toys, and he is currently provided with multiple toys that are rotated weekly to keep them fresh and entertaining for him.

He can be a little bouncy and boisterous, so any children in the home should be teenage or older as he seems to have a tendency to want to herd smaller children.

Only open to younger than 13 for kids that have had hands-on experience with herding dogs. For the same reasons, he is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals.

He is open to going to a home with another dog – they need to be tolerant of rough play and have the energy to keep up with his play style.

A meet and greet for the dogs can be arranged at the RSPCA shelter to ensure they are a good match before taking Rick home.

Secure fencing of a reasonable height is also essential for Rick’s new home.

Rick is available for adoption for $350, which includes desexing, microchipping as well as vaccinations, worming and flea treatments.
