A new disco event aimed at bringing together people of all abilities will be hosted at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct on Saturday evening.

Thriving Horizons Disability Support is the organisation behind the event called Social Eyes Ability Social Night.

Organiser Troy Harvey said it was the first of many monthly events that he planned to roll out across the region to encourage social interactions within the community.

“Bundaberg has such a large disability community, yet there are few events aimed at these individuals throughout the year,” Troy said.

“This event aims to provide a safe space for these individuals to socialise and make new friends.

“There will be a disco, lawn games and door prizes donated by local businesses at the end of the night and companions are free to attend.”

Troy said the plan was to open up monthly activities like this to the children and youth of the region every month into the future.

“This is to normalize the way we interact with people with a disability,” he said.

The Social Eyes Ability Social Night disco is being held this Saturday 14 May at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.

Tickets are $15 on the night or $10 each before Wednesday 11 May.

Tickets can be purchased by phoning Troy on 0411 204 484.
