Tickets for the 2022 Childers Festival are now on sale with a number of new events featured, and old favourites returning to the program line up.
Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said it was great to see a number of wonderful events returning with Childers Festival favourites mixing with new events in this year’s line up.
“It is fantastic to see local businesses return to host events during the four-days of the festival, giving visitors the opportunity to see what Childers is all about,” Cr Learmonth said.
“The festival is a great event ever year, with the Childers community spirit shining through and locals and tourists alike supporting these businesses and helping the festival to be the success it always is.”

OPERA BY THE LAKE
Opera by the Lake is a standout event during the annual Childers Festival as the banks of Lake Redbrook transform into a beautiful, picnic styled affair for Opera by the Lake.
The two-hour performance will be a fusion of musical genres featuring the beautiful operatic sounds of David De Vito combined with the musical stylings of The Leading Men as they pay homage to musical theatre and superb Broadway shows to the delight of the crowd.
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a local wine or two while enjoying both the music and beautiful setting.
Local refreshments and wineries on site make Opera by the Lake the perfect way to relax on a Saturday afternoon before the main Festival Day. Return bus available.
SUGAR MILL AND CANE FIRE TOURS
It is not every day you can experience a tour of a working sugar mill.
The Sugar Mill and Cane Fire tours take participants on the journey of how sugar cane goes from crop to crystal on this entertaining and informative tour.
Enjoy the spectacle of modern harvesting at a cane farm, watch a locomotive hauling cane bins to the mill before stopping at various locations around the mill where the process of sugar cane production is explained.
Tour participants experience the spectacular sight of a “cane fire” and a barbecue dinner in Childers.
HILL OF PROMISE LONG TABLE DINNER
Join local winemakers Terrance and Mary Byrne at Hill Of Promise Winery and discover how they pour pride, passion and respect for tradition into every glass.
The evening starts with a glass of Three Marys bubbly and tasty appetisers as guests enjoy the ambience of the working winery.
A two-course meal featuring delicious, seasonal local produce will be matched with the vineyard’s award-winning preservative-free wines.
HISTORICAL BUS TOUR
