COMPETITION
Competition Results: Congratulations to Tony Townson for winning the 2022 Club Championship Singles Final 25-23. Tony defeated Keith Whalley in a very close game. Keith was holding two shots on the final end to win the game only to see Tony play a great drive which removed the two shot bowls to win the match. Well done to both players. Tony now plays the Champion of Champions Singles this weekend and all of Burnett wishes him well.

McCRACKEN CUP
Congratulations to the Burnett team for winning the McCracken Cup on the weekend. Burnett played Isis in the semi-final and won 2-1 with the pairs and fours winning their matches. In the final Burnett defeated Bargara 2-1. Darryl Austin won a tight singles match 25-24 and the pairs won 22-17 with the fours team losing their match. All players represented their club with distinction. Well done! Great to see so many Burnett members spectating during the finals, as this shows some club spirit and is appreciated by the players. The successful team was – Singles: Darryl Austin Pairs: Tony Townson, Keith Whalley Fours: Jezza Vereshaka, Mick Jeffs, Daniel Stanton-Cook, Brian Pownell. Darren McCracken and Beau Mark also played in the Fours during the Saturday games. A great team effort by all involved. The Cup will be proudly displayed at Burnett for the next twelve months.

Wednesday 22nd June: “Scroungers” Singles – this is a fun game of singles similar to Consistency Single where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $8.00 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prizemoney. All ability levels welcome. Come along for a fun night out.
Thursday 23rd June: ‘Thirsty Thursday’ Open Pairs – 3.00pm start – Names in by 2.30pm. Free drink (Sponsored) included in green fees. Games will finish at 5.00pm with 2 random lucky draws as prizes.

Club Opening hours are – Monday – Closed, Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 10am – 9pm, Thursday 11am – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9.30pm, Saturdays 10am – 6pm (10pm for functions), Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday at 7.00pm. The member’s draw is now at $90 so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
Entertainment for this Friday night the 24th June will be Old Bones and the following Friday the 1st July, live music will be supplied by ‘The Other Bloke’.
