Richard Williams, Glenn Hoffmann, Deneita Fewquandie and Maria Ebert are looking forward to this year's Oceanfest.

After a successful event last year Oceanfest will return to the Bundaberg Port Marina Precinct on Saturday 27 August with a number of crowd favourites part of the festival line up.

Held in the picturesque Port Marina precinct in Burnett Heads, Oceanfest Bundaberg showcases quality local seafood, produce, food and beverages.

There is set to be themed entertainment and a range of environmental and ocean orientated attractions, displays, demonstrations and workshops for all members of the family.

Event Coordinator Glenn Hoffmann said after the great success of the 2021 Oceanfest event, the team couldn’t wait to see the community enjoy the festival again this year.

“After the huge success of the event last year, including winning Community Event of the Year, the members of The Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise are proud to bring the event back in August,” Glenn said.

“More than 8000 people came through the gates in 2021, allowing the club to distribute $60,000 to 27 local charitable causes and not for profit organisations.

“Patrons can expect live music, market stalls, and of course plenty of seafood and treats for all, with plans shaping up to make the 2022 event the biggest yet.”

Oceanfest promotes the local, wild catch seafood, harvested from the Southern Great Barrier Reef and Bundaberg waters.

This event demonstrates how proud the Bundaberg community is of the local offerings provided by our seafood industry, the tourism industry and the producers in the Bundaberg North Burnett area.

“A menu based on locally caught seafood has been developed so that restaurants, van and stall operators can provide quality food choices to showcase our local fishing industry,” he said.

“Visitors can choose from a variety of locations, including The Marina Marquee, outdoor settings overlooking the Burnett River, Baltimore Restaurant or even bring a picnic blanket and sit on the grassed areas, while savouring their ‘catch of the day’ and looking out over the yachts in the Marina.

“The attractions, demonstrations, displays and workshops complementing the seafood experience will be diverse, so that our audience will have their interests catered for.”

Oceanfest sites and attractions expected to return:

  • A number of food vendors
  • Kids rides and entertainment
  • The spectacular Marina Marquee
  • Live music
  • Ship lift demonstration – courtesy of Ocean Pacific Seafoods.
  • Tours of the VMR Rescue boat

Expressions of interest and applications are now open for sponsors, stalls, attractions, food, beverage and entertainment.
