Wide Bay Burnett Community Legal Service is expanding their service to the Bundaberg region.

Wide Bay Burnett Community Legal Service is expanding to the Bundaberg Region.

The free community legal service will have a solicitor based in Bundaberg, thanks to additional funding from the Queensland Government Department of Justice and the Attorney General.

A solicitor will be based at IMPACT Community Services’ headquarters at 108 Bargara Rd, Bundaberg East.

They will travel to North Burnett towns throughout the week, where they will be available for free legal advice and referral, face-to-face.

A full schedule of days and locations will be available soon.

HBNC’s Legal and Professional Services Manager Ray Hill said having an on-the-ground presence in Bundaberg responded to the need for free legal advice and referrals throughout the whole region.

“Servicing a region as large and spread out as the Wide Bay Burnett is challenging and we want to make sure we’re doing all we can to make vital community legal services as accessible as possible,” Ray said.

“We recognise the value of face-to-face contact when discussing legal matters and hope Bundaberg and North Burnett community members will make the most of our presence and expertise.”

Ray also reminded residents that free legal advice was still available for residents impacted by and recovering from this year’s flood events.

“If you or someone you care for is unsure about legal rights, has been given confusing information, refused help or treated unfairly, contact Wide Bay Burnett Community Legal Service on 07 4194 2663,” Ray said.

“We have a solicitor available to help you specifically with flood related issues, and we can see you at Maryborough, Gympie, Hervey Bay or by telephone. Legal Aid may also be able to assist you, by calling 1300 527 700.”

Wide Bay Burnett Community Legal Service is managed by the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.
