Printmaking workshop to inspire young artists

Winner of the 2021 QRAA First Nations Artist Award, Darren Blackman, will lead young artists in a special printmaking with stamps school holiday workshop at the School of Arts this month.

This workshop is aimed at young artists aged 12 to 17 years old and helps them to develop their printmaking skills while learning new, creative techniques.

Participants will be guided through each step of designing, cutting and printing with handmade stamps.

Darren Blackman is a proud Gureng Gureng/Gangalu man with maternal South Sea Islander heritage from Vanuatu.

The Queensland Regional Art Awards winner specialises in printmaking and ceramics but also undertakes improv performance, music and painting.

He has wide experience in the arts, as a musician but also as a stage manager and sound technician for cultural festivals.

When: Friday, 20 January from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
