Brothers Social Touch Football is set to kick off next month with teams and individuals encouraged to nominate their interest today.
Bundaberg Brothers Social Touch Football Association President Andrew McCracken said he was eager to see existing players return and welcome some new fresh faces to the fields.
“Our Monday night comp caters for all skill levels and physical abilities and offers a great way to keep fit in a social and friendly environment,” Andrew said.
“We offer three divisions in our comp – Mixed, Mens Open and Open 35+ (open to all genders), with players ranging in age from their teenage years to some in their 70s.
“The games are played within three time slots (first game kicks off at 6 pm and the last at 7.40 pm) and consists of two 20-minute halves and a five-minute half-time break.
“At its core, this social comp is about having fun – it’s about regularly coming together with your mates, family or colleagues and enjoying being active in a low-pressure environment.”
Andrew encouraged anyone looking for a team to get in touch with the association.
“As with any social sport, our comp offers a great way to develop new friendships, to make new contacts, and to simply get out of the house and socialise for a few hours,” he said.
“We’ve already had several individuals contact us in recent weeks eager to join a team so we'll be looking to match those players with existing teams or form some new ones.
“Our comp also doesn’t require a lot of time commitment or a high level of fitness, so it’s perfect for busy people who can’t commit of lot of time to their sport.
“We also host an excellent end-of-season dinner at the Brothers Sports Club in the middle of the year to bring our players together to celebrate their time on the fields.”
The season runs from 6 February to 19 June 2023 – no games over the Easter break.
Team fees for the season are $400 if paid in full by sign-on night, which works out to be only about $34 a player for the season if you recruit a team of 12.
