Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo expands

Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo
This year's Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo would be held in June at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, with a focus on providing information to assist in a healthy lifestyle.

This year’s Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo expo is taking a new approach with host the Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre encouraging lifestyle organisations and younger community members to take part.

The event, held every year, provides people with choices as they age in the Bundaberg Region.

The neighbourhood centre's Corrie McColl said this year in particular the expo would be targeted at people aged from around 40 years old upward.

“We realise that while seniors need to know about critical services and the options available to them, it is also important to reach out to the middle-aged community,” he said.

“This is particularly relevant for people who are either caring for their older parents or simply looking for a career change or alternate living lifestyles.”

Corrie said the Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo would be held in June at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, and it would have a focus on providing information to assist in a healthy lifestyle.

“Aged care, NDIS and general healthy lifestyles are becoming more important than ever amongst our ageing population,” he said.

“We feel that it is vital to provide information and options for people to make more informed decisions.

“Through our Neighbourhood Centre we constantly see people who are asking about accessing My Aged Care and NDIS.

“It seems to be a growing need in the community.”

Corrie said organisations who could offer advice to carers and seniors were encouraged to register an interest.

“We are hoping to have stall holders from the NDIS and My Aged Care sector and with lifestyle businesses such a caravans, boating, leisure and Over 50’s resort living,” he said.

“Other stall holders would be aligned to employment pathways and general services targeted at the seniors population.

“Services will be available to provide advice on a large range of topics including aged care packages and planning, wills and Power of Attorney, retirement options and employment pathways for those wanting to continue working or changing their career.

“The public are welcome to attend this free event to learn more about their options and to see stalls across a large range of sectors aligned to the ageing population.”

Stall holders are encouraged to register their interest for the Seniors Lifestyle and Care Expo through the Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre.
