McCracken Cup: Burnett successfully defended the McCracken Cup over the weekend. The event is a team format with 3 disciplines played – Singles, Pairs and Fours. The team consisted of: Singles: Darryl Austin, Pairs: Mark Mizzi, Keith Whalley, Fours: Keegan Lankowski, Beau Mark, Craig Dodds, Yogi Best. On Saturday Burnett def Brothers 3-0 and on Sunday in the semi-final def Woodgate 2-1 and in the Grand Final def Moore Park 2-1. Congratulations to the players involved and thank you to the Burnett supporters that turned up to support the team. Well done!

Tuesday 20th June: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm for a 1 pm start. The Two Bowl Toucher Jackpot will be played after the game and is currently $100.
Wednesday 21st June: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $10 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prize money. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.
Thursday 22nd June: ‘Social Thursday’ Open Pairs (Men’s, Ladies, Mixed). Names in by 2.15pm as games will commence at 2.30pm. Play till 4.30pm with 2 random lucky draws as prizes.
Thursday 22nd June: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $40+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.

CLUB NEWS
Club opening hours are – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11am – 9pm, Thursday 2pm – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 9pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night at 7pm. The Member’s Draw was not won last week and will now be $90, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
Live entertainment for this Friday night the 23rd June will be by Neil Wenckand the following Friday the 30th June, live music will be delivered by “Old Habits’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.

Today we had our usual Ladies social competition as well as one game in the Ladies Singles Competition and a game in the Mixed Pairs Competition.
Ladies Singles played between Suzanne Weir and Trish Jensen resulted in a win for Suzanne.
Team Dowling, Fiona and Oyster took the win over Team Robbo, Tammy a’Beckett and John Robinson!

Friday 16.06.2023:
Not normally a bowls day but this afternoon we had two games of competition on our green.
The semi final of the Ladies Open Triples and a round in the Men’s Open Triples.
Ladies first:
An exciting game between Team Donna: Linda Hannah, Fiona Dowling and Donna Smith and Team Hazel: Lesley Christensen, Lorelle Mattson and Hazel Cornish.
Team Donna took the win.
BThe Mens triples was also a great game between Team Winzar: Trevor Christensen, Oyster Dowling and Bob Winzar and Team Bishop: Alan Johnston, Garry Willoughby and Archie Bishop.
Team Winzar took the win in a game that saw some amazing shots particularly from Archie Bishop who I’m told ‘played out of his skin’!

As you know Saturday is Jackpot Pairs and the jackpot went off, and who more deserving to win it but hard working ;

McCracken Cup:
The format is a game of singles, a game of pairs and a game of fours.
Woodgate played Elliott Heads In the morning and won all three games.
Our singles player Brian Cornish won this game 26/18, our pairs Rowdy Taylor and Robbie Byrnes won 22/16 and our fours, Trevor Christensen, George Weir, Oyster Dowling and skip Maurie Strano won 35/5.
The afternoon saw us playing the Bundaberg Club:
Brian won his singles game 25/14, our pairs Robbie and Rowdy won 18/10 but unfortunately our fours Trevor, George, Oyster and Maurie lost 13/19.
However as the overall win is decided on games won we have progressed into the next round to play Burnett tomorrow morning at the Brothers Club in Bundaberg.

Update on our team in the McCracken Cup:
Our men did us proud reaching this mornings semi final, only to be knocked out by the team from Burnett.
Our men won the fours but lost the singles and pairs!
Moore Park beat Bargara which meant Burnett played More Park in this afternoons final.
