A chance to grant life-changing wishes to kids with critical illnesses has brought out the sporting spirit of local football teams, led by the S.C Corinthian Football Club.

The team has been regularly fundraising for the local Make A Wish branch and have an upcoming fundraising event on 26 August.

Fundraising monies will support Make A Wish to grant life-changing wishes for local children with critical illnesses and their families.

Fundraiser and Assistant Junior Registrar of the club Emma Fyfe said, although there were many different clubs within the region, when it came to supporting this good cause rivalry was put aside.

“It is marvellous to see that no matter the uniform our volunteers are wearing as soon as Make A Wish is mentioned people are happy to contribute to our fundraising,” Emma said.

Corinthians have been selling raffle tickets and holding sausage sizzles over the last few months at the Bundaberg Football Queensland Premium League (BFQPL) games.

Special Make A Wish fundraising jerseys have been made available to fans to purchase.

Generous local businesses have sponsored the jerseys and donated raffles prizes.

The club’s efforts will culminate at the final home game of the season at Martens Oval on Saturday 26 August, with raffles and the charity sausage sizzle running.

“We’d like to extend an invitation to all local clubs to attend so the entire football community can come together with the common gold of helping out local sick children,” Emma said.

“It would be fantastic to see members of our local community attend the games and support the Bundaberg Make A Wish branch.”
