Get ready Bundaberg bookworms, as Lifeline Queensland’s beloved Bookfest is back in town, returning to Bundaberg from this Friday 29 September.

Taking place at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, there will be more than 100 crates of pre-loved books for sale at bargain-basement prices.

Book lovers will have three days to peruse the thousands of pre-loved reads at this years’ event, with kids books starting as low as 50c.

There is a huge range of genres to choose from, including cooking, health and fitness, gardening, history, biography, children’s books and much more.

Plus, there are puzzles, games, records and collectibles to tempt people of all ages.

Lifeline Bundaberg and Fraser Coast Business Manager Kylie Brogden said she was looking forward to the local community coming out to enjoy the event and support an important cause.

“Our free 24/7 Crisis Support services are continuing to be in high demand, and Bookfest is vital in raising funds for the support service,” she said.

“With cost of living pressures showing no signs of abating, everyone is looking for a bargain and Lifeline’s Bundaberg Bookfest is a great place to get one – or many bargains!”

And for those needing to refuel throughout the event, this Bookfest will have a coffee van and sausage sizzle on site so people can easily take a quick break to re-energise and restart the book hunt all over again.

The Lifeline Bundaberg Bookfest has always been popular with the local community, having been a fixture on the local event scene since 2004.

The September Bookfest follows on from a successful March 2023 event where more than 4,000 people flocked to the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct to grab a bargain.

With the Lifeline team putting the finishing touches on the Bookfest, Kylie said they were anticipating another big turnout.

“We can’t wait for the Bundaberg community to come out to enjoy the event and support an important cause,” she said.

“It’s the perfect way to round out the school holidays and there will be an incredible range of books up for grabs.

“We will be restocking over the entire three days, so there will be plenty of fresh reads to explore for those bookworms keen to return after the first day.”

Entry to Bookfest is free.
