Sunday 14 January: Today we had a semi Final in the mens B grade triples from the 2023 competition held over from last year, as well a social triples games.

Mens Semt Final, honestly this game was worthy of being a final!

Team Willoughby had a very hard fought win over Team Rogerson, the winning margin being one point!

Team Rogerson got off to a very slow start not putting any score on the card until end 5 while team Willoughby forged ahead!

The score sat at 7-1, however team Rogerson then found their feet taking a 3, a 4 and a 5 in quick succession!

However they then got stuck again for 3 ends until end 13 with a 1 the score sat at 14/13 to team Rogerson.

Team Willoughby then showed what they were made of and fought back with a 1 and a 4 to take the score on end 17 to a one point lead.

From then on it was tooth and nail stuff, 18 all on end 18, a 2 on end 19 (20/18) was the last points on the card for team Rogerson.

Team Willoughby took a 2 in end 20 to make the score 20/20, end 21 was declared a dead end when the kitty was hit out of bounds by Paul Rogerson so another end had to be played.

Needless to say the tension was on high level for both the players and the spectators who all had their opinions on how the end should be played!

An amazing bowl by newcomer Dean Clarke for team Willoughby right on the kitty put the pressure on the opposition.

Another new bowler, Alan Johnston put two beautiful bowls close but not close enough to take out Deans bowl!

A one to team Willoughby gave them the match, what a game, as I said worthy of a final!

Team Willoughby: Dean Clarke, Dennis Smith, Garry Willoughby

Team Rogerson: Alan Johnston, Wayne Stanley, Paul Rogerson

Winning Rink Draw: Rink 12: Lesley Christensen, Robyn Bishop, Rob Hannah

Runners Up: Rink 11: Daphnia Brettell, Gordon Nuttall

Encouragement: Rink 15: Jane Herd-Evans, Jacquie Rogerson, Gloria Newby
