Members of the Bundaberg 4WD Club headed to their club’s campsite on the banks of the Kolan River for this years Australia Day public holiday and weekend.
With wild and wet weather forecast the group decided to take the risk and go ahead with their plans.
The forecast rains didn’t eventuate, but the high humidity certainly tested the group.
Luckily the river gave relief from the heat. Our kayaks and other floating devices certainly got a workout.
Australian themed games kept the group entertained with celebrity head, thong throwing and boomerang throwing to have the competitive juices flowing.
Campsites were decked out in Australiana themes.
A game of night cricket under spotlights proved entertaining, with the flashing stumps certainly letting you know when the ball made contact.
The planned drive out to the Bulburin National Park had to be put on hold as the area is closed at the moment.
Tracks on the campsite property allowed the group to do some exploring and soak up the vehicle air-conditioning.
A short drive up to the Mirium Vale Hotel for a lunch time feast and a couple of cold beverages filled in some time as well.
Always a great time supporting our country pubs.
Getting out and about with a group of likeminded people and celebrating what we have never tires.
