Local dancers of all skillsets, ages and abilities will be pirouetting at the upcoming community classes with the Queensland Ballet Company during its regional tour.

The community classes are part of the Queensland Ballet’s 2024 Regional Community Engagement Tour, which aims to provide life-long learning experiences and access to ballet across regional communities.

Queensland Ballet Artistic Director Leanne Benjamin, OBE, AM, said Queensland Ballet was committed to sharing the joy of dance with communities across the region.

“I’m living proof that access and exposure to ballet in regional areas can inspire a lifelong love of the artform, or even a career,” Leanne said.

“Through our Community Engagement Tour, we hope to ignite a passion for ballet and provide opportunities for individuals of all ages to explore their creativity and express themselves through movement.”

The community classes will offer various lessons catering to different age groups and skill levels, including:

  • Petit pointers (2-5 years)
  • Junior ballet and repertoire 1 (6-9 years)
  • Intermediate ballet and repertoire (10-12 years)
  • Teen ballet and repertoire (12-14 years)
  • Advanced ballet and repertoire (15+ years)
  • Adult ballet (18 years and over)

Shalom College will be hosting the Queensland Ballet classes which are supported by Arts Queensland.
