The draws for the B Grade Competitions and the A & B Pairs have been completed, Members are asked to check the draw and to start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible.
Nominations are now open for the Open Triples, Mixed Pairs & Mixed Fours. Please organize your teams and nominate on the sheets on the Club Noticeboard as nominations will close this Saturday the 13 April.

Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours. If you cannot get through to the club number regarding bowls, then phone 0405373754.
Tuesday 9 April: 50/50 Day where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prize money. Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.
Wednesday 10 April: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $10 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prize money. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.
Thursday 11 April: ‘Social Thursday’ Open Pairs (Men’s, Ladies, Mixed). Names in by 2.15 pm as games will commence at 2.30 pm. Play till 4.30 pm with 2 random lucky draws as prizes.
Thursday 11 April: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30 pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $318+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.
Friday 12 April: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12 pm, green fees paid by 12.30 pm for a 1 pm start.

Club news:
Club opening hours are – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11am – 9pm, Thursday 2pm – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 12 April at 7 pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.
The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 12 April and stands at $890, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
There will be live entertainment on Friday 12 April presented by Keely Ellen and the following Friday 17 April entertainment will be provided by ‘The Other Bloke”. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.

Thursday 5 April Oyster and Fee’s Day: No Oyster, off unwell so Fee held the reins for us today! As usual a lovely fun day with a returning group of Ladies from Hedland on the Sunshine Coast!

Saturday 6 April: Saturday self select pairs with not one but two amazing games of fours competition. Either game could have been a final so closely contested were they!
Game one (only cos we finished first!): A win to team Byrnes over team Christo: Team Christo put the first points on the card but team Byrnes weren’t having any of that and came back with a 4 on end 4 to take the lead which they held throughout the game.
However they didn’t have it all their own way with team Christo fighting back the whole way. On end 18 the score sat at 20/13 to team Byrnes, when team Christo took it up a notch with a 2, a 3 and a 1 to go down 19/20.

Game two: A win to team Strano over team Hannah: Team Strano put the first points on the card, but the Hannah/Mullins combination fought back to take the lead on end 4 as so often happens in a game of bowls, team Hannah got stuck on 5 for 5 ends while team Strano crept up to a 10/5 lead.
It was then tooth and nail until end 11 when the score was even on 11/11 when a late surge from team Strano saw them take the match 22/18.

Sunday 7 April: Another huge day out on our greens today: Four games In the Open Mixed Fours Competitions and only one social pairs match! The Open Mixed Fours games had some exciting results and well worth a look!
Possibly the match to watch was between team Strano and Team Byrnes, resulting in a win to team Strano 22/20 decided on the last end.
Team Byrnes took the first points going out to a 9/1 lead on end 6, from then on Team Strano clawed their way back to level the score on end 12,11/11, they held the lead until end 15 when team Byrnes retook the lead 15/13!
Team Strano came back with 4 to make the score 17/15 on end 16, a 2 on end 17 and the score sat at 19/15.
Team Byrnes then evened the score on end 19, 19/19 as you can imagine the tension was huge, two ends to go and the game was anyone’s!
A one by Team Byrnes on end 20 made the score 19/20 in their favour but never discount an old war horse like Maurie to lead his team to a 3 on end 21 to take the match 22/20.
The match of the day and perhaps the match of the competition!
