Activities are taking place around the region as part of Queensland’s Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, which coincides with the United Nation’s International Day of Families on 15 May.
Both the Gin Gin Community Hub and the Childers Neighbourhood Centre will be hosting free community barbecues to raise awareness around the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence.
Service providers will be on hand at both events for a chat and to provide more information on referral pathways.
Another event not to miss will be the free screening of the Outback Minds documentary Boiling Point, hosted by Bundaberg Regional Council and IMPACT Community Services at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on 21 May.
The documentary was produced by Aaron Schultz and provides insight into abusive behaviour and domestic violence.
The event will include a welcome from Aaron before the screening, followed by a panel discussion including a question and answer session with the audience.
