A new playground at Moore Park Beach Parklands – including a giant, 4.3 m high slide – is ready for action and set to drive family fun and visitation for the coastal community.
Located near the beachfront, the playground is part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s broader revitalisation of the area, which also includes a new community annex featuring a community hub, men’s shed, and a storage and thrift shop.
Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Jason Bartels said the opening of the playground marked an exciting milestone for the community.
“This is a fantastic space where families can come together, kids can explore, and everyone can enjoy the outdoors,” he said.
“The community has been incredibly patient throughout the construction process, and now they can see the results – this is a place to be proud of.”
Designed by local company Willplay and constructed as part of the Moore Park Beach landscaping package, the playground features climbing frames, adventure activities, all abilities equipment, and a large tower with an attached slide.
Shade sails and new seating have also been installed in the area.
Cr Bartels said the playground was just one part of the transformation taking place as part of the Moore Park Beach Master Plan, shaped by years of community consultation.
“The improvements here reflect what residents have told us they want – more spaces for families, better community facilities, and a place that encourages people to visit,” he said.
“With the playground and Surf Club Drive now open, Moore Park Beach is set to be an even more vibrant and welcoming destination for everyone to enjoy.”
