A special seniors road safety exhibition will be held on Wednesday, 28 August 2019 to provide information during Queensland Road Safety Week.
One focus this week is the safety of seniors on our roads.
Bundaberg Police have teamed up with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Brothers Sports Club to promote a safety first campaign.
This Wednesday, there will be a display of road safety information to encourage drivers to make a commitment and refresh their road rules knowledge at a seniors road safety exhibition.
The exhibition will provide feedback to older drivers about their driving skills as well as providing information on topics which relate to their lifestyle including caravanning and understanding the effect that illnesses and medicines may have on their driving.
The aim of Road Safety Week is to raise awareness of the Fatal Five to all road users:
- Speeding;
- Drink and drug driving;
- Seat belts;
- Fatigue; and
- Inattention and distraction.
This event provides a rare opportunity for seniors to speak with officers and road safety experts from Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Time: 8.30am – 12 noon
As a bonus, the first 100 seniors to attend this road safety event will be offered a free coffee and road safety first USB car charger.
This is a free event and all seniors are encouraged to attend.
Seniors road safety forum
Also on Wednesday there will be a Safe Road Use As We Age Forum in Bundaberg at the Sugar Country Motor Inn.
This forum will focus on the road safety issues faced in the Bundaberg and North Burnett regions. Feedback gained from the event may be used to develop the next Queensland Road Safety Strategy, which is being shaped by conversations with regional communities sharing their perspectives about road safety.
