Bundaberg will welcome a new live entertainment venue when the Metro Hotel relaunches the M-BAR tonight.

With many in the community craving the return of regular live music following last year’s COVID-19 related hiatus, the arrival of the revived entertainment venue is welcome news.

Tara Brady, Assistant Manager at the Metro Hotel, said the M-BAR would host live music every Saturday night.

“We will have a band performing on the first Saturday of every month, with DJs, duos or soloists performing every other Saturday,” she said.

“It means so much to the Metro team to start our live entertainment again and bring something new to Bundaberg.”

Performing at the Metro Hotel M-BAR relaunch will be popular Bundaberg cover band Sonic Playground.

The Metro Hotel has undergone extensive renovations since being purchased by Jarrod Murphy 13 years ago and Tara said the M-BAR was an ideal spot for live music as the only nightclub-style venue in Bundaberg.

She said the Metro Hotel team was looking forward to the opening of the new venue and hoped it would be supported by Bundaberg Region residents.

“Since COVID-19 it has been a struggle as we always abide by government regulations and have only been able to work at half capacity, so re-opening our nightclub will not only be great news for the people of Bundaberg, it will help us as well,” Tara said.

“We feel like Bundaberg is ready for a change and we aim to be the venue to provide this for Bundaberg’s nightlife.”

Tara said the reopened night spot would not impact other regular events at the hotel including music bingo on Wednesday nights and the Thursday night trivia competition, and Monday to Saturday lunches and dinners would continue.

M-BAR will throw open the doors for its re-launch tonight at 8pm.
