Thursday 25 April: Big day today, not only was it Oyster and Fee’s Day but we also had the final of the Open Mixed Fours between Team Strano and Team Nuttall. I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn when I say Team Nuttall went into this game as the team to beat!

BUT you can never discount an old campaigner like Maurie Strano, he went into this game with a will and determination to win, and win he did!

The score doesn’t reflect what a great game this was, all the cliff hangers you could wish for in a game, like dead ends, driving action at the head and some brilliant bowls bowled by members of both teams!

Team Strano: Dennis Smith Donna Smith Lorelle Mattson Maurie Strano.

Team Nuttall: Jane Herd-Evans Gail Lenz John Robinson Gordon Nuttall.

Winning rink draw: Rink 10: Competition game. Team Nuttall.

Runners Up: Rink 13: Wayne Stanley Judy Barrett Ian Goodhew.

Woodgate has had a team playing in the District Eight a Side Competition, and how proud are we of their achievements! Round one: Woodgate 64 defeated ATW 43.

Burnett 56 defeated Bundaberg 53.

The semi final saw Woodgate beat Burnett in the morning, however Bargara won the final in the afternoon against Woodgate.

For a small club such as ours this is an amazing result, well done to all our players.

Jacquie Rogerson, Gordon Nuttall, Jane Herd-Evans, Ian Goodhew, Rowdy Taylor, Fiona Dowling, Donna Smith, Robbie Byrnes and Cheryl Goodhew.

Sunday 28 April: Today we played our usual social paddle pop draw triples, with the highlight of the day being the final of the Open Ladies Pairs between last years winners Jane and Fiona and two of our top Lady bowlers, Robyn and Karen.

An extremely hard fought match, with the score neck and neck until the half way mark when Jane and Fiona showed they were the winning combination and surged ahead to take the match!

Ladies Open Pairs Winners: Jane Herd-Evans Fiona Dowling Runners Up: Karen Henderson Robyn Bishop Winning rink draw: Rink 13: Dean Clarke Robbie Royan Trevor Christensen
