Teneale and Dion Taylor have opened HSG At The Gardens at 57 Gorlicks Road.

Local man Dion Taylor, along with his Dad, his wife Teneale and children Rylee and Adysson, are the family behind the establishment, with a focus on “hearty meals for beautiful souls”.

Dion said the new restaurant was five years in the making and would be open every day at the space which once housed Penny Lane Gardens on 57 Gorlicks Road.

“We definitely have an emotional attachment to this area,” Dion said.

“We were married here so we are doing the full cycle of being a customers to being married to now being able to provide the same level of service and experience for others.”

The family have an extensive background in the culinary industry, with Dion’s years of experience as a chef, Teneale’s customer service skills and the kids always happy to lend a helping hand to Mum and Dad.

“Collectively, we have a massive blend and passion for all things food and drink and our drive is to share this with everyone at The Gardens,” Dion said.

Build your own dish

The menu itself is a creative point-of-difference, with Dion stating diners chose their base products first before adding a meat or vegetable option of their choice to make up a delicious, personalised meal.

“The menu, full of local ingredients, was designed around ticking all of the dietary experiences and expectations the market has today,” he said.

“We find a lot of people don’t have the ability to dine out because of a gluten problems, keto diets, vegetarian choices- all sorts of things.

“I went through a holistic approach to try and roll all of those dietary expectations into a menu which allows the diner means to pick and choose their own food.

“It’s creative, it is fun and it means guests won’t get bored with the menu.”

Bundaberg residents urged to show support

Dion said he was excited to introduce the community to HSG At The Gardens.

“I am looking forward to the feedback and looking forward to having people be able to enjoy the outdoors and spread out,” he said.

“Read a book or sit on a rug under the trees. Enjoy our space.

“We are here to provide the destination, now we need the local residents to come and support us.”

HSG at the Gardens is open seven days a week 8am to 6pm with Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights also offering a dinner service.

The team also provide their services for functions including weddings, engagement parties and more.
